Animal/Behavior

Doubleheader!

Giant dog off-leash at the park, you ran right over to my toddler's bagel and cream cheese, placed delicately on a napkin in the grass as she ran off in search of gravel.  Ate it all in one big bite.

Your dude came running after you.  Upon hearing, "Hey!  Your dog just ate my daughter's sandwich," he immediately offered to pay for it, and whipped out a five.

Dog and man, you are BOTH DOING IT RIGHT.

An Animal Edition

I SAW YOU: Nice golden retriever very energetically digging a hole in new mulch outside a frat house on Locust Walk.  You were on a leash tied to something.  The leash was red and long.  I do not know who tied you up or if it was a good thing to do, but you looked happy and busy.

You don't need outfits to be correct, you know.

Dog digging a hole outside a frat house, you are doing it RIGHT.

Full spectrum style in 30 feet

I SAW YOU: 9 AM, Locust Walk near 39th.  Very handsome Asian-American dad on a bike.  Slim-cut grey trousers, bike helmet with light.  Safety is VERY stylish.  The best part?  Your outfit, especially orange and grey coat and backpack, matched your child's bike seat (dark grey with orange lining).  Plus the pleasant nod we exchanged.  You are doing it safely and with style, and you are doing it RIGHT.

And then within 30 feet and 30 seconds, I SAW YOU:  Asian-American man, maybe mid-forties, walking and reading a Kindle or iPad.  Literacy is stylish, but even better?  Your outfit: narrow black velvet pants, ombre grey wool flannel blazer.  Reading, walking, and STYLE: you are doing it RIGHT.

Butch

I SAW YOU: at the 38th/Spruce WaWa, home of the true heroes of the sandwich-making business:

Compact, lightly-muscled white-skinned man, early middle age, shiny bald head, pencil mustache, slim-fit black khakis, work shoes, and uniform shirt.  Your name badge read "BUTCH."

In a uniform, Butch, you are DOING IT RIGHT.

You Are A Bird

Middle-aged white woman walking north on 38th, just south of Spruce: you were wearing an amazing felted-wool sweater-jacket, drapey and somewhat A-line, with charcoal and light grey bird silhouettes, over a royal blue skirt or dress that was a mass of wavy fabric pieces.  The birds flew above the clouds; you had cognac knee-high boots as well.

Congratulations!  You are a bird, and you are DOING IT RIGHT.

Green Line on Baltimore

Short thick white guy with a pug, both of you encased in sturdy black canvas: dog in a little quilted coat, dude in black Carhartt overalls (flap down), black sneakers, probably several black tops/sweaters/sweatshirts, heavy coat, and a great giant knitted black cowl that you pulled over your bald head as you went inside for a giant bag of croissants.

You fed the birds and your dog, then went back for your own iced coffee.

In terms of style AND stewardship, my friend, YOU ARE DOING IT RIGHT.

Tender Penn kid

I SAW YOU crossing the bridge at Locust Walk over 38th street.  You were very slim, in form-fitting clothing: leopard print thermal longsleeve T, skintight black jeans just above the ankle, below-the-ankle black socks (peds), maroon slightly pointy and metallic-ish oxfords.  Hornrimmed glasses and a poetic haircut (shaved almost to the skin on the sides, with a short scruff of pomaded curls laid to the side on top).

YOU'RE DOING IT RIGHT!
